Worth the trouble finding the Restaurant

Posted by rr5979 on 2/5/2007

Make sure and print out directions if you are not from the Redding Area. If you are from the Redding Area, it's right behind Miller Auto Center. Great Food, friendly staff, nice wine selection and most importantly there was great energy in the place. Don't you hate taking a date to a quiet, stuffy, hope you don't use the wrong fork kind of place. This is the opposite. The only reason I'm not giving Gironda's a 5 star rating is because they don't have a bar in the Restaurant. You will love the food and atmosphere once you are seated at your table, and it's worth the couple minutes of standing in the entry area.

Doesn't measure up

Girandas reminds me of the neighborhood family restaurant. The atmosphere and home style sauces look and taste just as Italian home style cooking but the comparison stops there. The dinner starts with 1 slice of bread to dip into a olive oil and vinegar mixture that is tasty and good, however all the bread you get is 1 slice per person cut in half and the limit is stated on the menu. The spaghetti meal didn't come with the meat sauce I ordered but a plain sauce and barely was enough to cover the spaghetti. My wife and I agree this restaurant didn't measure up to some others in town and a family priced restaurant it is not. Prices were a little on the expensive side for the meals we got. Ample Parking but handicap parkers had to park some distance from the entrance in an adjacent parking lot.

Olive garden, what!

Girandas is by far the best in town for Italian food. It reminds me of the nieghborhood family resturants that I used to go to as a kid growing up in the City. All the food is fresh verse the open the can pour out the sauce chain resturants. No offense to the chains but they can't compete with Girandas in my book. Just bring back the cannollis.
